The more I travel, the more I appreciate how each new place has its own unique color palette: rusty-pink desert mountains, salty bright teal waves, even gentle mossy greens. I'm privileged to travel to so many places and see them all with my own eyes - but not everyone gets to do that.
​
These simple color profiles - each painted with the water of the places they reflect - are affordably priced because I want to share that beauty and experience with as many people as possible, regardless of their budget.

Nature Illustrations
I grew up in a place where, 50% of the year, the sky is grey, the trees are leafless, and the ground is frozen. Now, living in the Mediterranean, I am surrounded by flowers and leaves and fruit trees every day of the year. It still blows my mind.
​
The short twisted olive trees I park my car next to produce hard green olives in the fall. The fruit on the kumquat and lemon trees that line my street turn bright yellow and orange in the rains of winter. And on summer afternoons, I walk in the bright teal surf on jellyfish-studded beaches.

There's two phases to my travel sketching process. The first phase happens in the country - I carry my travel kit with me up on mountains, down in river beds, and at look-out points. In these places, I sit down for an hour and quickly sketch what I see . Then, with a small empty water bottle (always with me on trips), I gather up a small water sample to bring home for phase 2.
Under the desk of my home office, I have a collection of water bottles, all filled with salt water and river water and lake water from all around the world. And with these bottles, I take my time painting from the pictures I took on our journeys - using the water I carefully brought home with me.

Landscapes + Cityscapes
For a little country the size of the state of New Jersey, Israel packs a surprisingly big punch. In this one little place, you can find beaches and deserts, urban Tel Aviv and ancient Jerusalem, high-tech skyscrapers and Biblical ruins. It's impossible to capture what Israel is in a single snapshot.
In the beginning, I started out only painting close-ups of flowers and succulents - but when I moved here, I started painting hillside cities and desert mountains and vistas of Haifa Bay. And before long, I started doing the same thing on our other trips, too.​
