Whenever Ido and I go on a hike, the very first thing I pack in my trail bag is a headband.

Yup - a headband.

I really started to embrace this when Ido and I traveled to Jordan, Petra, and the deserts of Wadi Rum in the summer (yes, the summer) of 2022. 

We were sweating buckets all day long in 110-degree heat, not a cloud in the sky, and I was hiding under a black wide-brimmed hat.  And, because my current haircut has bangs ... well, a hat is the kiss of death for bangs.  And I resigned myself to having bad hair in every picture of our trip.

As an afterthought, just to keep my hair out of the way, I swept my hair back with a headband and put my hat over it.  To my surprise, when I took pictures along the trail - the pictures turned out great!  My bangs were hidden under the headband, and the pretty pattern of the fabric hid the sweat and framed my trail-wild hair.

So now, I never travel without one.

Doesn’t matter how smelly, sweaty, or exhausted I am - or how bad my hat hair gets, or how weird my bangs get under that sweaty sunhat - my magical trail headband always saves the day (and my pictures!)

(And yes, I now have a drawer of 13 of them - soon to be 14 after I buy this one, too - !)
